Kundapur Police act against Shrill Horns and modified Silencers for Bullet Bikes

Kundapur: The District police have decided to relieve the citizens of noise pollution caused by vehicles, especially car and Bullet Motorcycles. The Police have started targeting technicians as well as motorbike owners who get their bikes modified.

The police have already warned the technicians that they would be booked for customizing motorbikes for wheeling and other stunts. They have also warned them for installing shrill horns and modified silencers.

As per the order by district SP Laxman Nimbargi a drive was held recently by the police across the district and a fine of Rs 1,79,500 was collected. 53 cases of shrill horns fitted on Bullet Motorbikes, 92 cases against other two wheelers and 251 cases of shrill horns fitted on four-wheelers were registered. Apart from this, 165 cases for vehicles with excessive noise and 492 cases against drivers, conductors for not wearing the uniform were also registered. 16 technicians fitting shrill horns and 40 technicians fitting modified silencers were called and warned of taking action against them if they continued to do the same.

On July 16 once again the Kundapur Police led by CPI Manjappa, PSI Harish R and team conducted the drive against shrill horns and defective silencers.

Four Bullet Motorcycles installed with shrill horns and modified silencers were taken to the police station where the extra and modified fittings were removed and a fine imposed.

“According to The Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, any kind of alteration on motor vehicles is a violation. So we are taking action as per law. Residents regularly complain of youth using shrill horns and modified silencers on their vehicles, so we are taking tough action and booking cases against the technicians as well as the motorbike owners,” said CPI Manjappa.
