Kundapur Rural Police Arrest Maid, Husband for Stealing Gold

Kundapur: In a swift operation the Kundapur Rural police on Tuesday succeeded in arresting two persons in connection with a house theft case reported at Satwadi near Moodlakatte and recovered the stolen gold jewellery and Cash.

The arrested have been identified as Sridhar (32) and his wife Swathi (26) residents of Uppunda near Byndoor.

On Sunday, January 13, the family members of Dinakar Shetty residents of Satwadi had gone out to attend a function. While there was no one in the house, the accused entered the house and stole Rs 3.56 lakh worth of gold and cash. When the family members returned home late night, the incident came to light. A complaint was filed in the Kundapur Rural Police Station on Monday morning. PI Sridhar Naik registered an FIR and began investigating the case.

Acting on a tip-off the police arrested the accused maid and her husband near the KSRTC Bus-stand and recovered gold and Cash Rs 20000. The maid and her husband were working in Dinkar Shetty’s house from the last four months. During interrogation, both revealed that they had stolen the valuables and were planning to escape from Kundapur.

Under the able guidance of SP Laxman Nimbargi, ASP Kumar Chandra, with the help of DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, CPI D R Manjappa the team led by Kundapur PI Sridhar Naik including Santhosh Kumar, Sridhar, Sujith Kumar, Padmavathi, Deepa, and Shivananda took part in the arrest operation.
