Kundapur Rural Police Arrest man for Illegal cattle transport

Kundapur: The Kundapur Rural police arrested a man in connection with cattle trafficking at Kandlur village on October 20.

The arrested has been identified as Moideen Beary (40), a resident of Gulvady near Kundapur Taluk.

According to the Kundapur Rural police, On October 17, early morning at 4:30 am, Moideen Beary along with others were transporting cattle illegally at Gulvadi. The Kundaour police team on night beat tried to stop the Goods Van. But the driver failed to stop the vehicle. The police then followed the vehicle which proceeded towards Basrur.

The other police on duty were also informed and at Kandlur barricades were set up to stop the vehicle. At Kandlur when the police signaled to stop the vehicle, the driver increased the speed of the vehicle and hit the barricade injuring police constable Prashanth Naganna and sped away on the Ampar-Neralakatte route. At Kaluvinabagilu the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot with other occupants.

When the police inspected the van, they found 25 cattle in it being transported in an inhumane manner, as a result of which eight of the cattle had died.

On October 20, the Kundapur police arrested Moideen Beary and search is on for others.
