Kundapur Town PS Closed For Sanitization After ASI Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Kundapur: The 54-year-old ASI of Kundapur Town police station has tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus on Thursday, July 18.

According to the district police officials, the Assistant Sub-inspector of Kundapur town station whose duty was Highway patrolling has tested positive for the coronavirus. After finishing his duty, he had gone for home quarantine. On July 18 his test report confirmed him to be positive for the virus. The ASI has now been shifted to the designated COVID Hospital for treatment. The police station will remain closed for one week for sanitization.

The total number of Coronavirus cases in Udupi district has increased to 1,979 as on Friday. 1,543 patients were discharged, and 429 patients are being treated in different hospitals. As of now, 414 swab samples are pending for results, and 213 samples were sent for testing on Friday. 309 samples have tested negative on Friday, while a total of 21,465 swab samples out of the 23,858 samples have tested negative for the coronavirus.
