Laxmi Hebbalkar claims BJP tried to lure her

Belagavi: KPCC Women’s Wing president and Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar stated that she was lured by BJP, with an offer of a cabinet berth and Rs 30 crore.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi on Friday, Hebbalkar said that while she was in Hyderabad, a BJP woman leader called her and made the offer. She alleged that she was ‘offered a ministerial berth and Rs 30 crore’.

Hebbalkar emphasised that she turned down the offer as it was against the principles of natural justice and democracy.

“I told the BJP leader that I was a loyal Congress party worker, and the party had helped me grow to this stature. I refused to quit the party. I was called with that offer between May 14 and 18. I handed over the record of calls and messages received; to then KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, and also informed former chief minister Siddaramaiah and AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal,” Hebbalkar stated.

“At around the same time, one Union minister from Karnataka was also in touch with my sister in New Delhi, asking her to convince me to join BJP,” Hebbalkar alleged.
