Leaders from all Parties Pay Last Respect to Ex MLA Gopal Bhandary

Karkala: Leaders from across the district paid their last respects to the Former MLA of Karkala Gopal Bhandary who passed away on July 4, Thursday due to the cardiac arrest.

H. Gopal Bhandary, former MLA, died here on Thursday, July 4 following a cardiac arrest while he was on a bus bound to Mangaluru.

Bhandary was travelling in a KSRTC bus that left Bengaluru at around 2:00 p.m. As Bhandary did not get up from his seat when the bus reached Mangaluru at 10:00 p.m., the conductor called the police. Bhandary was then shifted to Wenlock Hospital.

On Friday, July 5 morning, the mortal of Bhandary were brought to the Rajeev Bhavan, Karkala where Leaders from across the district paid their last respects to him.

On behalf of the State Government Dr Jayamala, district minister in-charge placed the wreath and paid the last respect to him.

Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, Udupi Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, Vinay Kumar Sorake, former Union Minister Veerappa Moily and others also paid last respects to Bhandary.

Speaking to Mangalorean.com Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar said, today we lost a great leader of Karkala. Gopal Bhandary worked tirelessly for the development of Karkala during his tenure as MLA. His commitment towards the people shall always be remembered. My condolences to his family members, well-wishers & followers, he said.

Udupi district minister in-charge Jayamala in her condolence message said that the state lost a visionary leader today. My condolences to his family members, well-wishers & followers.

Pramod Madhwaraj in his condolence message said, “My heartfelt condolences over the sad demise of Gopal Bhandary. A very honest leader who always thought of helping the downtrodden, he was also a great orator. My condolences to his family and to all who know him, he said.
