London, April 6 (IANS) Leicester’s Mayor Peter Soulsby is considering a plan to rename a number of streets in the city after the stars of the football club Leicester City, which is on the verge of a seemingly impossible dream of winning the English Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.

Soulsby, 67, stressed that he will take this step to honour the players and the team’s Italian manager, Claudio Ranieri, if they actually win the campaign by the end of the season, reports Efe.

Speaking to the Times, Soulsby said on Wednesday “Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road.”

Leicester City, which was promoted to the Premier League in 2014, is currently leading the standings with 69 points, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in second place with 62 points.
