Life Threat to Sorake and Dinesh Mattu, Case filed

Udupi: A case has been registered against Pune Billava President for issuing life threat to former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake and Dinesh Amin Mattu at the Udupi Town Police station.

Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake along with like-minded Billawa organizations and the Udupi Muslim Federation jointly scheduled an inter-religious Billawa – Muslims Harmony meet on January 11, at the Town Hall.

Journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu was the speaker and Vinay Kumar Sorake was to preside over the programme. But the president of Pune Billava Sangha Kadthala Vishwanath Poojary expressing dissatisfaction for holding the programme called Dinesh Amin Mattu and threatened him with life. During the phone conversation, he had also threatened Vinay Kumar Sorake with life. The conversation of the president speaking on the phone went viral on social media.

The Udyavar Gram Panchayat member Diwakar Bolje filed a complaint against Vishwanath Poojary in the Udupi Town Police station.

Some Billawa organizations and political leaders have expressed their dissatisfaction for holding the harmony meet and discussions were rife in the social media. In this regard, the organizers decided to postpone the programme.
