According to the police, On 29, September 2019, a young entrepreneur and owner of the villa, 65 Godrej gold county in Chikkabidarakallu village, Bengaluru Rural, Chetan along with his family had gone to Singapore and returned on October 5, 2019. The Madanayakanahally police registered a case under sections 454, 457, and 380 IPC and started investigating. Considering it to be a serious case, senior police officers constituted a team led by Inspector K P Satyanarayan. The incident took place in the Godrej Villa community layout. The villa has a compound wall with security guards and access to only those working in the villa and the neighbours. However, as the attached bathroom of the room with the jewels had a leakage issue, the north Indian workers from the Godrej organization used to loiter in that area to fix the leakage.
