Mandd Sobhann to Host First-ever ‘Global Konkani Cine Awards’

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Eric Ozario- Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann said,” In order to promote Konkani cinema and to encourage cine artistes, Mandd Sobhann is presenting the first ‘Global Konkani Cine awards’ for Konkani cinema produced anywhere in the world, in any dialect of Konkani in the year 2016 and 2017.

He further said, “Awards will be given in nine categories such as Best Movie, Best Director, Best Actor (male), Best Actor (female), Best Supporting Actor (male), Best Supporting Actor (female), Best Screen Play\script), Best Music (songs\background) and Best Short Films. The award ceremony will be held on December 9 2018 at Kalaangann, Shakthinagar, Mangaluru”.

“The criteria for the cine awards are films should be released and screened in 2016 to 2017. Konkani feature films should be minimum of 90 minutes and released anywhere in the world in any Konkani dialect. Konkani must be the dominant language of the movie. Criteria for best short film are it should be produced in the time period of January 1, 2016 to September 30, 2018. Duration will be maximum 20 minutes. The panel of expert judges will select 3 nominees and the winner in each category. The nominees will be announced by November 9. The winner will be declared at award ceremony. The award will consist of title, award and cash prize of Rs 25,000 each,” added Eric Ozario.

Ozario further informed, “The rules and the application forms are also available on www.manddsobhann.org \ mandd sobhann music (official) on Facebook page. You can also e-mail: manddsobhann@yahoo.com and procure the application. The application will also be provided at Kalaangann office. Application and declaration must be submitted by the producer in the prescribed form, along with a print of the film in the DCD\ AVI or MOV format. Application and the print of the movie should be reached by September 30,”.

Coordinator Stany Alvares, treasurer Arun Raj Rodrigues and PRO Naveen Lobo of Mandd Sobhann were also present on the dais.
