Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Rajendra Kumar- District spokesperson for Aam Aadmi Party said, ” When the people of Karnataka got fed up with the demoralized administration of the BJP government, which ruled Karnataka from 2009-2013, they opted for present congress government in 2013 and elected it. But this government too has failed to control corruption. Instead, it has been directly and indirectlyencouraging corruption and ridiculing the decision of the people who opted it for. People are disappointed with the attitude of the govt as they expected a non corrupt and clean administration from this government”

“The state Lokayukta which was a role model to the people of this country has now become inactive, corrupt and useless body. It has lost the confidence of the people. The Siddarammaiah government has played an important role regarding this matter, Bhaskar Rao who is the chief culprit in this regard has used his leave facilitate and has been absconding since then. The government made attempt to appoint a corrupt person as Vice Lokayukta after the resignation of the former Vice Lokayukta, but bid was failed. Hence that position remains vacant even till today”.

“Thereby the Lokayukta body has become inactive without a chief Lokayukta and a vice Lokayukta. The present situation is such that govt. office is functioning only if people are paying bribes to the officers. Beds are not available to the underprivileged poor people in the government Hospital without bribe. The Citizen of Karnataka has not accepted this situation, but has become accustomed to this situation helplessly. People want to get rid of this helpless situation, but is it possible…….??”

Kumar further said, “Our Party office has already received complaints from people regarding bribery and other malpractices in the govt. sectors. If we ask them to inform the condition to the local Lokayukta body, there they question us back as “where does the Lokayukta body exist?” Our government is filled with corrupt, highly irresponsible ministers who are playing with the sentiments of our people. The Aam Aadmi Party in the state has started this Bribery free Karnataka campaign with this background, The Party is trying to help people in the absence of Lokayukta by visiting places where people have complained that their work is not being done without bribery”.

“As a beginning to this campaign a week program was arranged in Bengaluru as “Bribe free Bangalore” from 13th Oct to 17th Oct. During this week our party volunteers has been visiting Sub registers office, RTO offices etc. and are seeing that these offices conduct their various jobs without taking bribes. We are also seeking the cooperation of these officers and employees. This campaign is not against any Govt. office or political parties, but it is an active participation of Aam Aadmi party with the people against corruption. We seek the cooperation of all political parties, media and responsible citizens in this movement. Everyone has the desire to make Karnataka free of corruption and therefore we hope everyone will join hands with us” added Kumar.

While concluding Rajendra Kumar said, “We have also started a helpline against corruption in Karnataka and it was inaugurated by H.N. Doraiswami- a senior freedom fighter. Our D.K. District Aam Aadmi party will extend support and start this movement from 17th Oct 2015 and will actively participate in it. Our Volunteers have already gone to Bangaluru to participate in “Bribe free Bangalore week Campaign”. Next coming week we will intensify the campaign in all taluks and villages”
