Mangaluru: A 27-year-old man who was assaulted by two men on August 6 at Haladi Sajipa, succumbed to severe head injuries at the Unity Hospital here, on August 7.
The deceased has been identified as Nasir (27), a resident of Kandan, Melkar.
According to family members, on August 6 Nasir was travelling on Mustafa’s auto to Haladi Sajipa. At Melkar, four men came in two bikes, one of them stopped and asked for directions to Kukkaje. When Mustafa was giving them directions to Kukkaje, the two men on the other bike assaulted Mustafa with sharp weapons. When Nasir questioned them, they attacked Nasir too.
Both Nasir and Mustafa were rushed to the hospital in Thumbay but due to severe injuries, both of them were shifted to Unity Hospital after first aid was administered. On August 7, Nasir succumbed to severe head injuries.
A large number of relatives and friends of Nasir gathered at the hospital premises. Nasir’s body has been taken to A J Hospital for a post-mortem. Nasir is survived by his parents, a pregnant wife, a daughter and his brothers.
A case has been registered in the Bantwal Police Station.
