Mangaluru: An awareness street play on “Malaria” was organised by the Department of Health near the Town Hall here, on March 14.
Minister of Health, U T Khader inaugurated the programme by playing the drums.
Speaking on the occasion U T Khader said, “Health programmes will not be effective if the public is not involved in it. Prevention of the disease is always better than treating the disease. An individual should take responsibility for his/her own health and take better care of his/her body. People order unhealthy food and are ready to wait for half an hour for their order. But, they are not ready to invest any amount of time at a hospital to do a body check up. Even if a person has diabetes, food comes first and they do not care enough about themselves. We should not neglect our health. If you drink atleast 3 liters of water everyday, then we can avoid diseases and keep the kidneys healthy. Walk atleast for half an hour and stop excessive food intake. If we strive to keep ourselves healthy, then we can avoid diseases.”
Girish Navada team from Katipalla performed the play on Malaria. Jayaram Poojary delivered the vote of thanks.
Superintendent of Lady Goschen Dr Shakuntala, District Malaria officer Arun Kumar and nursing students were also present.
