DCP of Law and Order, Santhosh Babu, briefed on the advantages of the website and said that the public can download applications for driving license and also to file complaints online. He further said that to file an FIR one should come to the police station because it is very difficult to handle complaints online due to lack of man power. The list of telephone numbers of various police stations, information on traffic violations and fines can be accessed on the website. The website is linked with Twitter and facebook.

Addressing the mediapersons, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police (DG&IGP) of Karnataka State Police, Om Prakash said that Diya Systems has designed this website free of cost for the benefit of the public.

When questioned about what action has been taken on the demands of retired police officers who had boycotted the police flag day demanding for medical assistance (Arogya Bhagya) and provision of canteen facilities, Om Prakash said, “We have informed the retired police officers that it is not possible to include them in the Arogya Bhagya scheme which runs on the principle of reimbursement by the department based on the medical attendance rules, which are not applicable to the people who are not in service.”

“The provision of canteen facilities are not in the hands of the state government, but under the Central master Canteen, which is run by BSF, if they will extend the facilities, retired police officers will get canteen facilities.

He also said that at present there is shortage of police personnel, so the home guards will perform their duty until new appointments are made. He also informed that three new police stations will be established in Jeppu, Traffic South and Kaikamba.

Police Commissioner S Murugan, SP Dr Sharanappa, SP of Udupi Annamalai and others were also present.
