Speaking on the occasion, Kumble Narasimha Prabhu (CEO and Managing Director of Manipal ACE Event Management) said, “I joined Milagres school 50 years ago and studied there for 10 years. The credit for all my achievements goes to Milagres school. I was molded and taught by this school and due to the strong foundation that I received from this school and its teachers, I have reached this position today.”

He thanked the Principal of Milagres College for giving him the opportunity to be part of the college day.

He further advised the students and said, “The two difficult things which brings disaster in one’s life are fear and greed. Fear of failure, of being rejected, brings a person down. If you surpass your fears, you will win. We always want to earn more, to get more and our desires are unlimited, we want to have everything in life. This greed will cause failure. The greed of many industrialists to make more and more money has brought them down. So get over your fear and do not let your greed blind you. If you keep aside your fear and work without expecting anything, you will never fail in life.”

He asked the students what they aspired to be after college, “…a good job, a beautiful spouse and a good life. That is what everybody wishes for. Most college students say that they want good jobs. But no one says that he/she wants to be an entrepreneur. This is a tragedy. People want to be safe and lead a lavish life; they do not want to take any risk, so they search for a good job. If this was how Narayan Murthy would have thought, we wouldn’t have had Infosys, which employs more than 1 lakh people who earn more than 20 lakh per annum. You can create the nation’s wealth and distribute it among your employees and family by being an entrepreneur.”

He also said, “Do not be greedy, try to become an entrepreneur and contribute to the nation’s growth. Today, we are at the horizon of an explosive growth. The whole world is looking at India. This is the country where you can prosper in the next 10 years.”

Giving four tips to be a successful person in life, he said, “First one is Ethics, honesty and values. Second one is commitment and hardwork, third one is attitude and the fourth one is health and habits.”

The Correspondent of the Institution, Fr Valerian D’Souza, delivered the presidential address. Third year BBM student Shehnaz delivered the vote of thanks. Savil Mascarenhas and others were also present. Ahmed Marshook, Elvin Selvin D’Souza, Noel Gershom Kumar and Sachin N compered the programme. There was a cultural programme thereafter by the students.
