Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Jagadish Shenava- District Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad said, “When a person belonging to a Muslim community is murdered, or killed in a firing or a due to accident, the leaders of the Karnataka State Government are quick in offering compensation to the deceased family members. But when one of our activist, Prashanth Poojary, a flower vendor and belonging to a Hindu community was murdered in Moodbidiri few days ago, none of our elected representatives have come forward to sanction any compensation to his family. This shows that our present government is only behind a certain community for vote bank”.

“If the culprits who were responsible for this murder are not arrested by this weekend, we will stage a massive dharna in Moodbidiri on Monday, 19 October. And still if the concerned authorities don’t take action, we will intensify our protest till the culprits are caught and put behind the bars. Also the government has been ignoring our requests to abolish SDPI and KFD organizations but there has been action taken. The members of these organizations have been involved in illegal cow-slaughter, illegal cow-trafficking and also involved in disturbing communal harmony, and engaged in “Love Jihad”. We are helpless because CM Siddaramaiah’s government is anti-Hindu and is least bothered in rectifying all these issues” added Shenava.

He further said ” Even in our neighbouring places there have been attacks on Hindu persons, but no action is being taken since the police are controlled by our district ministers, MLAs and other leaders not to take any actions. Sad to note that not even a single minister nor a MLA has visited Prashanth Poojary’s house nor have condemned the brutal murder of Poojary. Even though the police were informed quickly after Poojary’s murder, the police arrived at their own time-only if they had rushed to the spot the culprits would have been caught. Since the government is hesitating in giving compensation to Poojary’s family, we the members of VHP have come together in collecting Rs 10 lakhs which will be handed to Poojary’s kith and kin soon”.

Other members of VHP namely Gopal Kutthar, Bujang Kulal, Praveen Kutthar and Manohar Suvarna were also present during the press meet.
