Mangaluru: The ad-interim president of the DK district Congress committee Ibrahim Kodijal took charge as chairperson of the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority here on March 6.
Addressing the gathering MLC Ivan D’Souza said that Ibrahim Kodijal has got the fruit of serving the Congress party for 46 years. The State government led by Chief minister Siddaramaiah and President of KPCC Parameshwar has given him an opportunity to serve as the MUDA president. It is a responsible post and Ibrahim Kodijal will do justice to the post and help in solving all the land related problems.
MLA Moideen Bava said, “According to the instructions of Congress National President Sonia Gandhi, if there are any government posts vacant, they should be given to the loyal party workers. The state government has followed the instructions and appointed Ibrahim Kodijal as the chairperson of MUDA”.
Bava further said that the city is facing severe traffic problems which should be given priority by starting the ring road project.
MLA J R Lobo speaking on the occasion congratulated Ibrahim Kodijal and said that from the past 2 years the deputy commissioner was handling the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority. Mangaluru is the second fastest growing city in the state and we need to think of developing the city. We need funds and approval from the government for the development work. Ibrahim Kodijal has served in various posts in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and he has very good experience in dealing with the people. He also urged the chairperson to solve the single site issue which the people face at present.
Ibrahim Kodijal speaking on the occasion said, “I dedicate the chairperson post to my party workers because without the support of the party workers, it is not possible to reach this height. I started my political career 46 years ago and served as Mandal pradhan of Konaje for 5 years from 1987. Ullal Block Congress president for 10 years and vice president for 5 years. As district Congress president I have served for 10 years, from the past 2 years I am holding the post of ad-interim president of the DK district Congress committee”.
He further said, “In my political career of 46 years, I have worked for the betterment of the party without discrimination of caste, creed and religion. I will continue my service with humility and do my best to serve the people”.
Mayor Mahabala Marla, deputy mayor Kavita and others were also present.
