Delivering the keynote address, T V Mohandas Pai said that even though WKC achieved two milestones under VKSSF – so far more than 5000 students were honoured, the total disbursement will exceed Rs 12 crores – it was not a great thing and any organisation could achieve it. “But what is great is that everyone who has passed out through this programme from the last two batches have been placed. They were placed because of their own merit and efforts and are role models to other students. Our wish is that those of our scholars in the pipeline should also get placed in good institutions, companies.” He also said that the organisation expected to see more entrepreneurs to come out of these programs. The scholarship initiative has entered its 6th year and this year, WKC will be disbursing more than Rs 3.5 crores in the form of scholarships. However, one shortcoming faced by the organisation every year is that they were unable to attract scholars from other regions, he added.
