Mangaluru: Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader visited Thokkottu on February 26 and met the shop owners who lost their shops in the fire on February 25.
Thirteen shops were set on fire after group clashes in K C Road, Talapady on February 25. Miscreants had set fire to 13 shops which were totally gutted in the fire by the time the fire service reached the spot.
As soon as the news spread, Minister U T Khader promised compensation for the victims. Later minister Khader visited the spot and distributed Rs 30,000 each to all the 13 shop owners. He also assured that the police would investigate the matter and the culprits would be severely punished.
