Mangaluru: Minister Ramanath Rai Inaugurates Concreted Ambedkar Circle Road

Mangaluru: District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai inaugurated the completed concreted road from Ambedkar Circle Jyothi to Bunts Hostel here, on February 23. The road work was completed within four months at a total cost of Rs 1.94 crore.

Addressing the mediapersons, Ramanath Rai said that the funds for the widening of the road from Ambedkar Circle Jyothi to Bunts Hostel were sanctioned under the Rs 100 crore project. “This road is the main road for most of the vehicles. The Council members have worked hard to see that the work was completed in time. Being one of the main roads of the city, the work was completed within the given four month period.”

Speaking on the occasion MLA J R Lobo said, “Under the second phase of the project, the road from Ambedkar Circle Jyothi to Bunts Hostel has been concreted.” He also thanked the state government for sanctioning the funds for the road concreting work. “The footpath, street light and drainage work is pending. We have invited tenders for the same. Once the tender process is complete, we will start the drainage and footpath work. The concrete work of the other roads are under progress, we will complete the work soon. Once the road work in the city will be completed, Mangalore will be a model city”.

Mayor Mahabala Marla speaking on the occasion said, “The Ambedkar Circle Jyothi to Bunts hostel road has been concreted under the second phase of the 100 crore project. We started the road work on November 4 and promised the people to open the road by February 22. We have kept our promise and completed the work within the given time. The people’s demand was to complete the road work soon because this is an important road for the users. We will work for the total development of the district. Mangalore City Corporation will soon be a model city”.

Deputy Mayor Kavita, Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Hepsiba Rani Korlapati and other corporators were also present.
