Mangaluru Police Prepare to Hand Over 23 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants

Mangaluru: The process of deporting 23 Bangladeshi nationals who were detained during raids conducted at various locations within the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits is nearing completion.

About a month ago, Mangaluru Police detained the Bangladeshi nationals, who were allegedly living illegally in different parts of the city under the guise of construction workers. During the operations conducted at various locations, police detained 23 individuals.
The process of handing over the detained immigrants to the Bangladeshi authorities has now begun. They are being escorted to Malda in West Bengal under tight security.

A team of around 30 police personnel, including senior police officers, is escorting the detainees. The police team travelled from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and has proceeded from there by train to Malda in West Bengal.

Mangaluru Police are preparing to hand over the detainees to Border Security Force (BSF) officials at the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal on August 26.

The BSF is expected to place the detainees in a holding centre. After completion of the necessary technical and legal formalities, they are likely to be deported to Bangladesh.
