Mangaluru Priest Arrested Following Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Boys
Mangaluru: A priest identified as Cyprian Pinto, who serves at a church in Mangaluru, has been arrested by the police from a relative’s residence in connection with allegations of sexual abuse involving boys.
According to the complaint, allegations of sexual abuse were raised against the priest, following which complaints were lodged with the Directorate of Child Protection and the Pandeshwar Police Station.
Based on the complaints, the Pandeshwar Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The Mangaluru City Police Commissioner confirmed the arrest and stated that the accused priest would be produced before a magistrate.
The allegations are under investigation. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty under the law.
