Mangaluru: The reach and power of the web media was proved yet again when a report published by this website on Friday, April 22 got an immediate response by way of official action.

A banner had been put up by a fringe organization ‘compulsorily banning’ all non-Hindus from holding any trade activity around a small-time temple in Katipalla held over a few days this week.

It raised quite a bit of a row. This website was the first among the media to carry a report highlighting as to how communal harmony had remained deep-rooted in the coastal districts over the centuries and how it was being harmed by such a handful of elements at present. It was widely circulated abroad.

The district administration and temple authorities realized the mischief and damage potential. Ningaiah, the temple executive officer, filed a complaint at the Suratkal police station. The banner was reportedly vacated the same day.
