Mangaluru: Reporter Balakrishna Shibarla Receives DWJU Pa Go Award

Mangaluru : The ‘Pa Go Award 2014′ was presented by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Union to Balakrishna Shibarla, reporter of Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily at Mangalore Press Club on 7 April 2015. This award is presented every year for an ‘rural article/report’ in memory of the late Padyana Gopalakrishna Bhat, a senior journalist.

Prior to the formal function, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of late PG Bhat, followed by welcome address by Jagannath Shetty Bala, president of Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union. Guest of honor, Manohar Prasad-Bureau chief of Udayavani shared his memories and association with PG Bhat to the nedia persons. The award was presented to Balakrishna S for his article ” Naxal Police Madhye Nalugidavaru” which appeared in Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka on 31 July 2014, by chief guest G A Naik- a senior journalist/writer. The award consisted of Rs 10,001 cash prize, a citation and a memento.

On receiving the award Balakrishna Shibarla acknowledged his sincere thanks to DKDWJU for giving him the prestigious award, and also thanked his wife and parents for their support. Srinivas Nayak-secretary of DWJU proposed the vote of thanks. Savitri, wife of the late Padyana Gopalakrishna Bhat, and others were present during the occasion.
