“On March 11, all the 570 families will be provided gas connections, making Ullal a kerosene free Town municipal council in DK. This is the first town in the entire district to have 100 percent gas connections. The gas connections will be free of cost for the first time.”

When asked about H1N1, Khader said that 80% of the patients who have been admitted to the hospitals have recovered. “Some people died because of delay in medication. In Bengaluru, Nimhans and Manipal hospitals will do the test free of cost. Now, in Narayana Hradayala also a lab has been started to test H1N1. There are three categories for the test, A, B and C. In A category, the symptoms include any kind of fever. In B category, the symptoms are throat pain and persistent fever; such people should get medication and test should be done. If the virus is in the throat, we can cure it but once it enters the lungs, it becomes dangerous if the medication will not be successful.”

He further said, “We have formed a 5 member committee under the leadership of Dr Paramesh. We are trying to find out the mode to take preventive measures. Once controlled, we have to take a survey of the victims of H1N1, to find out how many people have been affected by H1N1 and the causes of the disease.”

He also revealed the road development work for the Rural areas. 19.86 crores has been sanctioned for the first phase of work which will start from April – May. The break-up is as follows:

Sarapadi – Sachari -Devepura road – Rs 3.23 crore
Udupi – Manchya – Rs 2.29 crores
Pajir – Mithakodi – Arcana – Rs 2.17 crore
Pajir – Manela road -Rs 3.01 crore
Kurnad Junction – Koddakal road – Rs 1.39
Sajipa Nadu – Talemogeru Road – Rs 2.91 crore
Ira -Parapu Road – 1.28 Crore
Balepuni – Narya Road Rs 2.26 crore
Sajipa Nadu – Kanchinadka Padavu Road – Rs 1.28 crore

These funds have been allotted under the scheme of ‘Namma Grama Namma Asti’. He also urged the people to support and co-operate in developing the roads.

He further said that the present budget is not in favour of the marginalized people. “Only industrialists are benefited. There are no points to eradicate unemployment, and the budget is not in favour of the farmers. In the name of ‘Make in India’, they are spending money on research and development. There are no programmes in the budget for the overall development of the country. First and second budget is very much important and the present budget will take another 2 years to be implemented.”

The state government has helped the people by providing medical facilities to BPL and APL card holders. If any government brings Universal coverage system, all the state government will come forward to support the cause. If people will not warn the government, the future is bleak, he said.”

President of standing committee Girija Bai Kapikad, Vice president Razia Ibhrahim, Mohammed Mukkacheri and Usman were also present.
