Mango Exhibition-cum-sale at Pilikula from May 21

Mangaluru: The State Mango Development and Marketing board (Bangalore) and Dr Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama will be jointly organising a Mango Exhibition-cum-sale and the Pilikula Vasanthotsava 2016, at Pilikula Urban Haat on May 21 and 22, said deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim in a press meet held at his office here, on May 20.

He further said that a variety of mangoes will be exhibited and put up for sale like local mangoes, Alphonsos, Mallika, Neelam, Mundappa, Totapuri, Badami, Rasapuri, Ratnagiri and others. Jackfruits, other local fruits and foreign fruits will also be exhibited and available for sale.

Principal Scientist Dr Suryaprakash said that two endangered plants will be planted in Pilikula on the occasion. Workshops on use of fertilizer, their effects on neighbouring plantations, organic farming, etc. will be conducted at Kadri Park on May 31.

DC Ibrahim urged the public to attend the exhibition-cum-sale and support the farmers.

Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, Dept of Horticulture, Forest and Agriculture Dept, Alva’s foundation Moodbidri, CAMPCO, KMF, KFDC and Savayava and Swavalambi Bagala Mangaluru will take part in the exhibition.

There will be various delicacies prepared from fruits, chocolates will be available at discounted prizes. There will be prizes for the biggest fruits in each category such as Mango, Jackfruit and Pineapple.
