MCC Mangalore fest celebrated at Sheikh Zayed International stadium in full swing

Abu Dhabi: Mangalore cup 2018 (Season-6) cricket tournament and Mangalore fest were held under the auspices of the MCC (Mangalore Cricket Club) at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium ground, here.

Abdul Salam KKJ President inaugurated the event, he said, ‘The power of the human will to compete and the drive to excel beyond the body’s normal capabilities is most beautifully demonstrated in the arena of sport. It doesn’t matter how good you are. Sport is all about playing and competing. Whatever you do in cricket and in sport, enjoy it, be positive and try to win’ ’He added.

Matthew Boucher CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket (ADC) witnessed Mangalorean cultural event and cricket match. He had congratulated MCC President for organizing excellent community cultural event & expressed his pleasure to host Mangalorean community at International Cricket stadium.

During the presentation ceremony Ronald pinto addressed the gathering via teleconference, he expressed sincere gratitude to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan founder of UAE and other rulers for their everlasting support towards the expatriate community.

He stated MCC’s humble beginning was initiated 6 years ago in a mud pitch within the short span of time it had reached to International Cricket stadium and turned in to a Festival for the Mangalorean Community. He applauded the dedication & hard work, cricket passion of MCC President Latheef KH.

Walter Almeda Managing Director Regal Furnishing & Storage System congratulated all the participated teams. He said, “Winning or losing is part of the game, he appreciated MCC’s efforts to bring all the community & sports lovers under one platform”.

Dr Rajeev Pillai Vice President Dar Al Shifa Hospital Thanked MCC cricket club for its fantastic work, he also expressed his happiness as Dar Al Shifa Hospital being the Health Partner in the MCC Event.

He said, “The day one I started to interact with MCC President Latheef I was amazed by the level of commitment and passion he is having towards cricket. He Carries cricket in his Heart he walks cricket he sleeps cricket. He wished magnificent growth for the MCC, as it grows bigger together all we can grow”, He added.

Queen Victoria Award winner Aboobackar Kuttikol admired the Mangalorean fest full day event; especially incredible cultural program of kids and cricket tournament coordination.

MCC President Latheef K. H Kakkinje honoured the guests and sponsors with a memento. Sahil Zaheer flew all the way from India as a Master of the ceremony, he had succeeded in maintaining the energy of the crowd till the last moment.

As many as 16 teams from places across the United Arab Emirates participated in the event. All the participating teams played to their best attempt keeping the scores and spirits very high.‘Steps & Strings’ Music, Dance, Arts and Events institute children performed a dazzling cultural dance. Cricket match and kids dance went hand in hand with the huge applause from the crowd.

In the finals battle Safe line Royal Thunders won the toss and elected to field, Eleven warriors managed to put up the good score of 23 Runs (3 Overs). They have defended their score, controlled over and good spells of Niamath and Haroon restricting the royal Thunders to 16 Runs & taking 4 wickets. Eleven warriors emerged as Champions. Safe Line royal Thundersturn out to be the Runner-up of the tournament.

There were many Trophies in following categories: Man of the match award in each league matches, Best Bowler, Best Keeper, Best Fielder, Best All-rounder, Best catcher etc.

Spectators received Laptop, mobile phone and other attractive prizes under coupon lucky draw. A number of companies put up their kiosks and freely distributed their products to all spectators to support the tournament under their corporate responsibility & social commitment ethos. Face painting for kids and other sports activities were also organized for families.

Dar Al Shifa Hospital conducted a free Health checkup at the stadium for the spectators and teams.

Mangalorean cricket clubs successive sixth season was full of actions and excitement. Eminent social workers and NRI Business conglomerates were present during the presentation ceremony. Prize distribution and winding up ceremony was blissful with many delegates. Walter Almeda, Asif and Althaf, Abubackker, Akram, Asif, Rafeeq and Nooruddin, Joel Crasta, Dr Rajeev Pillai, Shahnawaz Hakim Yousuf, Mansoor, Shekhar Shetty, Hidayath, Santhosh Rai, Rami & Mahmoud, Sachin, Yahya Abbas. MCC Board members and executives were present on the occasion. Sahil Zaheer compered the programme.
