MIA Customs Seize 23.18 grams of Gold Strip worth Rs 9.39 Lakh from Dubai Passenger

Mangaluru: The Customs Officers of Airport Team-II at Mangalore International Airport led by Rajesh Poojari, Assistant Commissioner, Superintendents -Srinath, Anup Kumar, Sinmay Pradhan, and Inspector Vinod Kumar, intercepted a passenger named Mohammed Mahir Patla Majeed of Patla, Kasaragod, aged about 24 years who arrived from Dubai yesterday evening by Air India Flight No. IX384 and attempted to smuggle 233.18 grams of gold in strip form worth 9.39 Lakhs concealed inside a rechargeable emergency light and solar sensor wall light.

The officers based on profiling zeroed in on the offender and detected the concealed gold strips with the help of imaging system. The smuggled gold has been seized under the Customs Act, 1962 and the investigation is underway.
