Minister U T Khader Inaugurates Two-day River Festival at Bangra Kuloor
Mangaluru: The river festival inaugurated by the district minister in-charge U T Khader at Bangra Kuloor here on January 12.
The programme began with an invocation. The two-day festival was inaugurated by the district minister in-charge U T Khader by beating the drum.
Addressing the gathering U T Khader said, “Today the river festival has been inaugurated. I urge the youth to come in large numbers and take part in the festival. We have various organizations, instead of involving in other activities which are not so important activities, should join hands with the district administration to promote the River festival. I will speak to the tourism minister to develop tourism in Dakshina Kannada. Tourism should be promoted to create more jobs for our youth. I wish the river festival all the success”.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil briefing on the River festival said, “This two-day river festival is open for public from 12-noon. The main area of the festival being held is in Bangra Kuloor, we have arranged Ferry transport for the public to reach Bangra Kuloor and bus facilities have also been arranged. Our main intention is to get all the speedboats here to watch their skills. Stand up paddling is another sport which is also being promoted. Boat race will also be held for two days for the local fishermen”.
Police Commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, Mayor Bhaskar K, ADC Kumar and others were also present.
