MLA J R Lobo Inaugurates Renovated road in Bejai

Mangaluru: The inauguration of the newly concreted Road on 7th Cross at Bejai was held on December 17.

MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the newly concreted road by cutting the ribbon. The road was under dispute and the case was in the Lokayukta. The road was inaugurated after the go-ahead by the Lokayukta following allegations of irregularities in the road development work.

The condition of the road in Ward No 32, 7th cross, Bejai was pathetic. Temporary repairs never helped the cause. Three years ago, an anonymous person had written to the Lokayukta over irregularities and low-quality patchwork covering the potholes on the road. This delayed the concreting of the road despite Rs 32 lakh being sanctioned by the SFC grant. After a long battle in the court, the Lokayukta gave the green signal and submitted the report in January 2017 after inspecting the road.

Speaking on the occasion Corporator Lancelot Pinto said, “This is a great occasion for us that the newly concreted road is being inaugurated. This will provide a sigh of relief for the pedestrians. Locals have supported us well and I am thankful for their kind support. Mangaluru is being developed and MLA J R Lobo is showing keen interest towards developing the city.”

Former Mayor Mahabala Marla, Sudheer T K and others were also present.

  1. New concreted roads, howsoever narrow they may be, are changing the overall outlook of Mangalore, from what we observed during our recent visit to Mangalore. The roads are well done, and also the roads are clean and neat. If there is any way to create some foot-pathways alongaside that will be great, but the overall progress of the roads in and around Mangalore is extremely praiseworthy.

India is now a fairly rich country in comparison with many other developing as well as developed nations in the world. With such a growing population added with ever-growing Education, all our City planners and developers should not fail in their aspirations for the City because there is enough Taxation made available thru every corner of the economic growth. Areas such as Health, Sanitation, Education, Transportation and Communication should receive best possible attention so that people are made happy, and happy people will willingly pay the taxes due from them because these taxes come back to each and every individual in one form or another.

Thank you, Mr. J. R. Lobo, for all your forthrightness in focusing on all the priorities of the City, and the people will always remain grateful to you for your good leadership.
