Modi Govt. Should Amend the Law to Protect Cows – Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi: “The Union Government should amend the constitution in order to protect cows”, said Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of the Paryaya Pejawar Math.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Gau Sammelan, which is being held as a part of the dedication ceremony of Swarna Gopura at Car Street here on Sunday, June 2.

“The Union Government should pay special attention to the protection of cows. The BJP government has come to power with full majority in the centre. The BJP does not need the support of any other party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should bring strict law for the protection of cows.”

“Protection of the cow is similar to the protection of Mother. Cow slaughter cannot be accepted in this country. It is unfortunate that cow slaughter has not been banned in our country. Many people have started to say that it is our right to food, and the cow slaughter issue has been given a religious touch which is painful.”

“The man who kills a cow is not a human being. He is equivalent to a demon. Slaughtering of cows and eating beef is a heinous act. It is not a question of the majority and minority population; we need the support of minorities to protect cows that are revered by the majority like a mother”, he said.

Around 16 to 20 Indian bred cattle were exhibited during the exhibition. Various Indian breeds like the Amrith Mahal breed of Mysore, Ongal of North India, Kapila breed of DK district, Sahiwal of Rajasthan, Geer from Gujrat as well as other breeds were exhibited.
