Modi Should Project India instead of Projecting Himself – Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru: “The Assembly Session had gone on for three days during which we requested to discuss the issue of floods in the state. We had discussed the issue in the upper and lower houses and made it clear that the state government had failed to handle the issue. Discussions in the Assembly went on for one and a half-day to announce it as a national disaster, but the state government did not agree to announce it as a national disaster. The opposition got down to the well and protested. We demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation to those who lost their houses and Rs 10,000 rent for whose houses were partially damaged. Loans of those who lost their agricultural land should be waived off. Prime minister Modi is busy projecting himself to the world, instead let him project the country”, said MLC Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at the District Congress office here on October 14.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan D’Souza said, “The BJP government in the state and centre is not bothered to listen to the grievances of the people. The prime minister is not bothered to listen to the grievances of the people who lost their houses and property. The Home Minister and finance minister made an ariel survey of the situation but did not respond positively”.

Ivan further said, “The prime minister did not even care to do an aerial survey to study the situation. Instead, he is projecting himself in front of the camera, he is not aware that he should listen to the grievances of the people. He is interested in picking up the dropped garbage for publicity. Is it necessary for a prime Minister to pick up garbage, it is not a publicity stunt? We never thought that the Prime minister would drink tender coconut with the Chinese president. Did the Chinese President come here to drink tender coconut? Modi is aware that China is supporting Pakistan against India in terrorist activities but Modi did not open his mouth. Our economy is in danger but the Prime minister did not open his mouth. Do not misuse the wealth of the country to project yourself, instead, try to work on the problems the country is facing”.

Ivan also said, “Why has the government restricted media coverage inside the state assembly? I raised the issue in the assembly. CM Yeddyurappa tweeted and said that for any reason he would not restrict the media. The speaker says he will not allow the media to cover assembly proceedings. Yeddyurappa says to allow the media but the RSS background speaker restricts the media! There infighting between the RSS and BJP in the state. The BJP is not interested in developing the state. The government has no moral rights to continue, people will teach a lesson in the by-elections”.
