Mother and Daughter Drown in Quarry Pond at Saibrakatte
Udupi: A 28 year old mother and her daughter lost their lives when they accidently fell into a quarry pond filled with water at Saibrakatte, Bramhavar Police Station limits here on December 17.
The deceased have been identified as Chandrika (28) and her daughter Likitha (3). Chandrika is the wife of daily wager Veeresh who hails from Bhadravati.
Chandrika along with her two daughters was washing clothes, Likitha and her sister were playing near the quarry pond. Likitha accidentally slipped and fell into the water. Chandrika who saw her daughter falling into the pond tried to rescue her and in the process she too drowned.
Slipha, Chandrikas elder daughter who was playing along with Likitha informed her aunt, but by the time they reached the spot had breathed their last.
Brahmavar PSI Madhu TS reached the spot and has initiated an inquiry.
Both the bodies were retrieved and sent for post mortem.
