Mother Dies by Suicide After Allegedly Killing Differently-Abled Daughter in Kundapur
Kundapur: A tragic incident was reported from Shanadi Koraga Colony in Kundapur taluk on Sunday morning, where a 34-year-old woman allegedly killed her differently-abled daughter before dying by suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Suprathi (14) and her mother, Nethravathi (34). Suprathi was the daughter of Sudhakar, a resident of Shanadi Koraga Colony.
Sudhakar reportedly supported the family through daily-wage labour. Suprathi had been differently-abled since birth and was bedridden, unable to walk, sit or speak. Nethravathi had been caring for her. The couple also have a one-year-old son.
According to reports, after Sudhakar left for work on Sunday morning, Nethravathi completed her household chores and allegedly killed her daughter by slitting her throat with a machete. She subsequently died by suicide by hanging.
The circumstances leading to the incident have not yet been established.
Kundapur Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police H.D. Kulkarni, Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, Kota Police Station Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar R. and the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
