MP Anantkumar Hegde ‘s behaviour irks people
People and women, in particular, took Member of Parliament Anantkumar Hegde to task at Neginhal village in Kittur taluk on Monday while he was taking stock of the flood situation there.
Women present there urged Hegde to have a look at their houses which had been damaged extensively due to heavy downpour, but Hegde told them that officials will inspect them.
Enraged with his reply, they complained that the response of the MP was like somebody coming to their home to console after the death of a family member. “Why should we vote for such persons,” they questioned.
Women also expressed ire by pointing towards the men in the village who had persuaded them to vote for Hegde during the Lok Sabha elections. They also cautioned Hegde of consequences in the future when he comes again to seek votes. Verbal exchanges led in commotion in the hall.
Farmers also spoke about the losses suffered by them due to flooding of the nallah water as harvest produce had been damaged. Hegde asked those making video of the incident to drop it and left the venue accompanied by MLA Mahantesh Doddagoudar.
