MP Kateel Delivers Maggi & Eggs to Medico in 30 mins, while Poor have No Food for Hours/Days

  • A ‘STARVING’ Medical Student from a City Hostel tweeted PM’s Office that she needed Six-packs of Maggi Noodles and dozen Eggs, and staff from PMO’s office forwarded it to COVID-19 War Room in Mangaluru, headed by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and he was quick to dash delivery the items to the Medico within 30 minutes! Wow- Netas are quick at the service of the RICH, while the POOR low wage workers and migrant labourers are suffering without food for hours and days in Mangaluru, and no help comes to them as quick as 30 minutes- probably they need to learn how to TWEET. On a second thought, since I have been missing on my Bacon & eggs, and also Pork Bafath and Sannas, I am thinking of tweeting to PM’s Office, hoping that my stuff would also be delivered in 30 mins?

Mangaluru: This story seems like the Domino’s pizza 30-minute deadline policy, like when you place an order for your pizza and it reaches your doorsteps within half an hour. Any later than that and you get your pie for free (Conditions apply). On the outset, the female medical student tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office asking that a dozen of eggs and six-packs of Maggi noodles be delivered to her door, due to lockdown in the City and shops were closed on 31 March, and she can’t get her favourite food. Stupid and ignorant- for the fact, there are hundreds of poor people a bowl of rice or a piece of bread, and this future DOCTOR, who will be serving the poor and the needy, is desperately begging for eggs and noodles. And surprisingly this crap story has been highlighted in the media like it is really important or a BREAKING NEWS?

Yes, staying in a hostel it is accustomed, where the students and working class of people are used to having their food cooked in the hostel kitchen, but in a case like the lockdown, especially when the shops are closed, some get desperate that they are missing their favourite food- and this has been the case of a female medical student staying in a hostel in the City. Yes, with no doubt, for hostelites that instant Maggi noodles along with eggs, with the possible inclusion of bread, qualify as essential supplies. So that’s what happened here for a desperate young female – a medical student from North India tweeted to Prime Minister Modi’s Office (PMO) that she was missing her supplies, i.e six-packs of Maggi noodles and one dozen eggs- and to her surprise, her items were delivered to her hostel doorstep by PMO’s local authorities here in Mangaluru- and the best part of it- it was FREE!

Sources reveal that it is not clear if the PMO saw the tweet or intervened but was noticed by the additional chief secretary in Karnataka urban development department. He quickly got in touch with the COVID-19 War Room in Mangaluru headed by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. The MP’s office which coordinated the dash delivery, and MP was quick to caution that this was a ‘one-off in a health emergency, authorities couldn’t be banked on to run daily supplies for free or otherwise. The war room supervisor was the one who collected Soumya’s contact number and arranged for supplies to be ferried to her. But our beloved MP Kateel was quite quick enough to finish this delivery of food job in 30 minutes? Bravo..bravo!

Speaking to media, MP Kateel said, “The War Room staff after receiving intimation from the additional chief secretary in Karnataka urban development department, quickly got in touch with the medical student who had placed her rather unusual demand. The supplies landed at her doorstep in 30 minutes, and when she was willing to pay for the supplies, it was decided to give it to her on the house. The PMO does keep a tab on various requests it receives..and directs agencies concerned to ascertain facts and act on them..(but) it must be understood this was a one-off in this health emergency”.

So, what was all this big deal of obliging a medico with her food request, when there are many others starving with NO FOOD? Did the additional chief secretary in Karnataka urban development department or MP Kateel or the war room supervisor think before they jumped into all this quick action? Or was it purely a PUBLICITY STUNT? Anyways, this request from a professional medical student appears to be very CHILDISH in this situation. I guess now onwards poor people, Migrant workers, and low wage workers should learn to tweet. Has our local war room authorities shown any concern towards the beggars, destitute, migrants and others who are starving without food- they have been looked after by NGO’s, Good Samaritans, and not by NETAS and other district authorities. The nearly 300 plus poor people lodged in the hostel near Padua School are facing hardships, not getting food in time, and have been complaining of being served stale food. And here we have our PMO official and MP making a quick dash to serve a well-to-do medical student. Bah humbug!

And to all our readers, take the example of this Medical Student- if you need your favourite items that you are dearly missing TWEET to PM Office- and your demand will be met. Certain Conditions May Apply?

  1. I agree with you. Everyone acted childishly; let me say rather selfishly-from the Medico to PMs office to the secretary to the MP to the supervisor of COVID control room. Add to that list you and me. You for writing such a lengthy report and me for commenting on your article.
