Mudarangadi David D’Souza Shootout Case: Two More Accused Arrested
Udupi: Police have arrested two more key accused for allegedly providing financial assistance and facilitating the murder of businessman David D’Souza, who was shot dead at Mudarangadi in Kaup taluk.
At around 3.45 p.m. on August 7, David D’Souza, owner of Prince Enterprises, was shot dead by a pillion rider on a motorcycle at the St. Xavier Church complex in Mudarangadi . The accused allegedly fired a pistol at David’s head. A case was registered at Shirva Police Station, and the investigation is underway.
Anmol Rastogi and Jiyahul Wajul Sheikh alias Deepak, who were allegedly directly involved in the crime, had already been arrested and taken into police custody for questioning. Examination of their bank account details, mobile phones and call records reportedly revealed that Mohammed Irshad and Chirag Poojary had transferred money to the accused and allegedly assisted them in carrying out the crime.
Further investigation, including scrutiny of bank transactions, mobile phone records and CCTV footage tracking the movements of the accused, led police to identify Sadananda Devadiga alias Sadananda A., 41, and Kishore Rama Poojary, 47, as key accused. They allegedly conspired to murder David and provided financial support for the crime.
Police seized two mobile phones, a motorcycle and cash from Sadananda Devadiga, a resident near Adamaru Math. From Kishore Rama Poojary, a resident of Uchila Bada village, police seized three mobile phones and a Creta car allegedly used in connection with the crime.
The arrested accused will be produced before the court, police said.
The prime accused, Raju, who was injured in an encounter with police after allegedly attempting to attack a government employee, is currently undergoing treatment as an inpatient at the District Government Hospital in Ajjarkad. He will be taken into custody and subjected to further questioning after his discharge from the hospital, police said.
The investigation into the case is continuing.
