Mudslide in Ottinene – NH 66 blocked for Several Hours
Kundapur: Heavy rains and mudslide in Ottinene – Shiroor near Byndoor resulted in blockage of NH 66 for several hours disrupting the movement of traffic. The construction of NH 66 is in progress in Byndoor and the mudslide at the construction site around 4:30 am resulted in the blockage of NH 66 till 8:00 am.
The landslide resulted in the closure of NH 66 for several hours. Later when the road was cleared at 8:00 am traffic movement resumed. Locals and the people’s representatives had warned of the danger, but the construction was undertaken in a hurry. The locals say that there is still a fear of landslide.
Former ZP President Raju Poojary said that the district administration has to take the matter seriously and appoint a nodal officer to inspect the construction work.
