Mukut Mogarnad Celebrates Easter Bash in Dubai amid Funfair

UAE: Under a blazing sun tempered by the gentlest of cool breeze and the shade of trees at Zabeel Park, several dozen people from Mogarnad Parish gathered to celebrate the “Easter Bash” organized by Mukut Mogarnad on Friday 6th of April, 2018. The Fun filled day started by invoking God’s blessings through prayer led by Fr George Lobo.

Fr George, who is on a visit to Dubai, in his introductory speech congratulated and thanked president Ronald Martis and the people responsible behind forming the Group and bringing the Parishioners of Mogarnad together under one umbrella, miles far away from our Mother Land. He prayed for the persistent expansion of group and beseeched God’s blessings upon the gathering.

Scrumptious breakfast of Idli-Vada sambar and tea/coffee was served as early as 9:00 am.

Vice president, Delson D’Silva, extended a warm and cordial welcome to one and all and explained the purpose of the picnic. The initial warm-up games like “Bombing the City” generated a lot of excitement and set the tone for the day!

As mid noon approached, the crowd was divided into 4 teams viz Green, Orange, Yellow and white. Colourful ribbons were distributed to distinguish the members of the respective groups and the team was then asked to select their Team Captains.

Kids below the age ten were equally excited to take part in “Maximum Pegs collection” and “Tug of War” conducted for them. Various competitive Group games like “Filling the Water Bottle” “Balloon Pyramid”, “Collecting the balls blindfolded” “Sack Race” and “Tug of War” were enthusiastically played by one and all. Every team performed brilliantly and creatively in the various chalked out games and competitions. The enthusiasm was so infectious that all the games conducted saw immense participation and interaction from the gathering.

This was followed by traditional Delicious Mangalorean lunch and the most finger smacking “Vorn” that was relished by all.

Immediately after the Lunch, a few hilarious spot games were conducted followed by a photoshoot by Deepak Pereira.

The winning team, people with Orange followed by Yellow, White and Green bands walked away with gifts from our sponsors. At Tea-Time, a refreshing tea was served to all.

Violet D’Souza, the secretary, in her Vote of thanks made a special mention of all the Sponsors, the Committee members and all those who had contributed towards the success of the event.

The people appreciated the splendid arrangements and exemplary work done by the Committee members of Mukut Mogarnad as they left the park carrying wonderful memories to be cherished.
