Mumbai: Thiya Samaj Mahila Vibhag Celebrates 10th Anniversary – Thiya Kula Ratna for Rohidas Bangera

Mumbai: Rohidas S Bangera, a well-known social worker who was the supporting personality behind the renovation of several Bhagwati Temples of Thiya (Malayalee Billawa) Community  in Udupi, DK, and Kasaragod districts, was awarded the prestigious award of Thiya Samaj ‘Thiya Kula Ratna’ on 28 December 2014 during the 10th Anniversary celebrations of the Mahila Vibhag at Karnataka Sangha’s Dr Visveshwaraya Hall. Earlier, he was felicitated with Thiya Kula Tilaka award for his outstanding contribution for Educational, Social and Cultural support.

The function was held under the presidentship of Chandrashekar Belchada, president of Thiya Samaj, Mumbai in the presence of the Chairpersons of various Tulu-Kannada Associations of Mumbai and Thane.

Lata J Shetty – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag Bunts Sangha, Mumbai; Subha D Gujaran – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag Rajaka Sangha; Dr Satya S Shetty – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag Mulund Bunts; Usha Hegde – President of Stree Shakti Mahila Mandali, Thane; Dr Sandya Vasan – SRM Hospital Chennai, were present as Chief Guests. The guests of honour were Shakuntala Kotiyan – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag Billawara Association; Usha G Munnur – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag Karnataka Vishwakarma Association; Madhumati Shettigar – Vice – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag, Padmashali Samaj Seva Sangha; Bharati S Nittekar – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag, Anita G Suvarna – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag, Saphalya Seva Sangha; Lalitha Bhandari – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag, Bhandari Seva Samiti and Sumati S Banjan – Chairperson Mahila Vibhag, Kulala Sangha, Mumbai.

Divya R Kotian, Chairperson of  Mahila Vibhag, Thiya Samaj, Western Region, welcomed all the guests. All the guests were felicitated by the Mahila Vibhag Chairperson, office bearers and committee members.

In their speech, the guests shared their experiences as Ladies Wing Chiefs and congratulated Thiya Samaj, specially the Ladies Wing, for its 10 successful years. They also expressed the importance of women members for the growth of their community organizations.

In his presidential address Chandrashekar Belchada extended his sincere thanks to the representatives of the Ladies Wing of various communities for their valid presence which proves the unity among all the communities.

Hon. Gen. Secretary of Thiya Samaj Ail Babu, Hon. Treasurer Ramesh Ullal, Secretary of Mahila Vibhag Chandra M Suvarna, Ranjini Suvarna, Sujata S Uchil, Gangadhar Kalladi, Padmini Kotekar, Shridhar Suvarna, Timmappa Bangera, Harsha Chandrashekar and Anashya of Saphalya Seva Sangha were present on dias.

Former president K P Arvind, Former chairperson of Local committee Ail Babu, Former Chairperson of Ladies Wing Chandra Suvarna and Vrunda Dinesh, President Chandrashekar Belchada, Chairperson of Ladies Wing Divya R Kotian were felicitated on behalf of Mahila Vibhag.

Divija Chandrashekar and Shridhar Suvarna compered the cultural programme. Former Secretary of Thiya Samaj and Journalist Ishwar M Ail compered the programme.

Secretary Chandra M Suvarna delivered the vote of thanks. The entertainment programme was held by Padmanabha Sasihittlu of Kala Saurabha.
