Muscat: Kannada Film Actor, Director Rakshit Shetty Felicitated

Muscat: Bunts residing in Oman hosted a felicitation event at Hotel Ramee Guest Line, Qurum to honour Kannada film actor, director Rakshit Shetty on Nov 2, 2015. The event started with an introductory speech by Shashidhar Shetty Mallar who also welcomed Rakshit Shetty and his team of eminent film personalities and associates. Guests were presented with floral bouquets by Bunt members.

Shanker T Shetty Kalladi introduced Rakshit Shetty and briefed about his credentials and contribution to the Kannada movie world. Rakshit Shetty rose to fame with the 2013 film “Simple Agi Ondu Love Story” in which he played the role of the lead male character. He turned into a director with a critically acclaimed film “Ulidavaru Kandanthe” also playing the lead role in the film. In the same movie, Rakshit Shetty bagged the Filmfare (South) Award as Best director and has been nominated for Best Lyricist and Best Actor awards. Rakshit has also played lead roles in the movies Namma Areadalli Ondina, Tughlak, Bahuparak, Vaastu Prakaara, Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, Ricky, etc.
It was a moment of great pride for all Bunts to felicitate Rakshit Shetty in an august gathering of close to 200 Bunts and Kannada film lovers. Diwakar Shetty (MD of Multitech LLC) and Ganesh Shetty (GM of STS) gave away the mementos to Rakshit and Shashidhar Shetty Mallar honoured the star with a shawl.

Rakshit was emotional and touched by the love of Bunts in a home away from home and thanked Bunts of Oman for organizing the felicitation. Rakshit in his casual speech assured and reiterated his commitment to bring out quality Kannada movies and requested Kannadigas to support Kannada films.
Dr Kishore Shetty recalled some Kannada blockbusters and artistic movies of yesteryears like Chomana Dudi, Kaadu, and appreciated Rakshit’s foresight and feelings for the need to cater to the society with value based quality movies.
Rakshit did take a tour of Oman and was awestruck with its natural landscape and beauty, filled with many ideal locations for film shooting. He expressed his desire to explore the possibilities in the near future.

Later, a reverberating Tiger dance sequel of the film Ulidavaru Kandanthe was enacted by Suraj Shetty, Dhanraj Shetty, Jayprakash Shetty, Dhanraj Balanna Shetty and the team which was ably coordinated by Nagesh Shetty.

For Bunts in Oman, it was truly a day to cherish and many members including Buntara Vaibhava Committee for 2015 events graced the occasion and made this event a momentous one. The gathering culminated in a Q&A session with a sumptuous cocktail dinner and photography sessions with members attending the gathering, courtesy Fotaflash.
