Addressing the mediapersons Former MLC and President of the Muslim Central Committee K S Mohammed Masood said, “The Indian constitution has given freedom to the citizens to practise their religion. The Muslim community condemns the interference of the court or the government in this matter. Sharia is the religious law governing the members of the Islamic faith. To interfere in the Sharia law the Triple Talaq issue has been raised. If there are any errors in the Talaq system, there are religious heads to do the necessary corrections. If any person suffers because of the Sharia law he/she can come to us to find the solution. The interference of the government or court in the matters of Sharia law is not acceptable. If the law is misused it is not the problem of the particular law. There is no need for any interference in the Sharia law,” Masood clarified.

Masood further said, “In Islam divorce is not only limited to men, women can also divorce their husbands. The Muslim Personal Law Board in the entire country has condemned the move of the Union government and they have started a signature campaign from men and women from the Muslim community to oppose the move”.
