NABBA WFF Ms Asia 2k19 Royala Fernandes Flags Off 200 KM Brevet

Mangaluru: Audax India Randonneurs (AIR) organized a 200 KM Brevet on October 18 in which more than 30 cyclists from Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Kerala participated.

The Brevet was flagged off by Fitness Athlete of International repute, Royella Fernandes. Royala has won the Ms Karnataka Sports Model 2019. NABBA WFF Ms India Women’s Fitness 2019 and NABBA WFF Ms Asia 2019. NABBA is the National Amateur Body Builder’s Association.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Founder of WE R Cycling Ashwath Rasquinha said, “Randonneuring is long-distance Endurance Cycling with rides of 200, 300, 400, 600 and 1000 kms called as Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRMs). Audax Club Parisien (ACP) is the international governing body for randonneuring that administers and oversees the conduct of BRMs worldwide. Today on October 18, Audax India is holding BRMs along with the local cycling clubs in 13 places including Mangaluru. The other places where the BRMs are held are Ludhiana, Guwahati, Secunderabad, Imphal, Panjim, Chinchwad, Salem, Jintur, Mumbai, Karimnagar, and Gwalior. Nowadays, more and more people are inclined towards cycling to maintain a healthy life. The Brevet has to be completed within the time set by ACP, the international governing body for brevets, and those who complete the ride within the given time are titled as Randonneurs. “

 

Ashwath also briefed about the rules and regulations of the Brevet and advised the participants to strictly abide by the rules set by Audax India to avoid disqualification. The time set to complete the 200 km Brevet is 13.5 hrs.

Addressing the cyclists, Royala Fernandes said, “I was very much excited to know that we have a cycling club in Mangaluru to keep us fit and healthy. Today’s 200 km Brevet will help you all to keep you fit and healthy. Focus on your goal and you will succeed. I wish all the very best”.

WE R Cycling President, Sarvesh Samaga, Harnish, and others were also present. The participants of the 200 km Brevet, starting from the Taj Cycle Company pass through Pumpwell Circle – Padil – Nanthur Junction – Suratkal – Padubidri – Udupi – Kundapur to Aloor Junction. The Brevet cards were signed at the Tallur junction and return to the starting point.
