Nandini New Product Block to be Inaugurated on April 5

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (DKCMPU) held a press meet at the KMF diary in Kulshekar here, on April 2.

Addressing the media persons, President of DKCMPU, Raviraj Hegde said, “There was a time when our district was procuring 43% of milk from neighbouring districts, but now we have reached the point of producing the surplus amount of milk. Generally, when this happens, the prices go down and they affect the farmer directly. But we want to provide them a market and therefore, on April 5 we will inaugurate, New Product Block, Cold Storage and Release of Flexipack Milk titled ‘Nandini Trupti’ & 500ml buttermilk.”

Flexi Pack UHT Milk Plant and New Product Block is a Rs 28 Crore Turn Key Project executed by KMF. Nandini UHT Milk in Flexi Pack has 3.5% Fat and 8.5% SNF. The fresh milk collected from BMCs will be sterilized at a temperature of 139ºc to 140ºc for 3 Seconds and packed in 5 layer flexi film having a shelf life of 90 days. The Nandini Trupti UHT milk in flexi pack can be directly consumed without boiling. The three-headed Flexi Pack machine is having the facility to pack 100 ml to 500 ml milk packs and the rate per liter is very affordable to the common man. The Union is planning to market the milk in the other states viz; Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, North Eastern States and Jammu Kashmir. The Trupti milk having 90 days shelf life can be sold not only at dealer points but also in provision stores and other shops facilitating the availability of the same to the end-consumers at any time.

Production Block: In order to cater the huge demands of Sweet Products, particularly during festive seasons, Rs 80 lakh worth machinery are installed in the new product block and the existing product block shall be revamped to produce curds in full-fledged capacity.

Cold Storage: Considering the present growth rate of 15% in Curd sales, to produce and market better quality curds to the tune of demand, 1 Lakh Ltr Capacity Cold Storage with 140 TR Capacity Blast Chilling Unit has been installed at a cost of Rs 87 lakh. This is sufficient to produce and market better quality of Butter Milk, Sweet Lassi, and Mango Lassi also for next 5 years.

The release of 500 ml. Butter Milk: The Union has already released Butter Milk in 1 Ltr pouch on 18-11-2015 for the first time in Karnataka. This is a plain Butter Milk and hence, the consumer is having a better choice to add the desirable ingredient such as masala or sugar and can make homemade Masala Butter Milk or Sweet Lassi and such other health drink quench the thirst. In order to cater the demand of small family, now the Union is releasing Butter Milk in 500 Ml pouch also.
