Do not take Law into your Hands in the name of Religion or Party – SP Dr Sanjeev Patil

Udupi: “Stringent action will be initiated if persons get involved in crimes in the name of religion, caste or party”, said district superintendent of police Dr Sanjeev Patil. He was speaking to media persons after assuming the charge of SP, here on August 10.

Addressing the mediapersons Dr Sanjeev Patil said, “People may belong to any political parties or religious outfits; if they incite violence in the name of religion, caste or party they will not be spared”.

Dr Sanjeev Patil further said, “Udupi district is an educational and cultural hub. The district has promoted the economy of the country. The percentage of people involved in communal related crimes is 1% and rest 99% live peacefully in the society. The department will address the concern of the 99% people who want live in peace in the society”.

Dr Sanjeev Patil also said, “All illegal crimes in the district will be dealt within the legal parameters. People can contact me directly regarding any issues in the society. As superintendent of police, this is my first posting, I have collected all the necessary information pertaining to the district from the former SP K Annamalai and outgoing SP K T Balakrishna. I will visit every police station to study the ground reality. I will also visit the villages and interact with the people”.

“A phone in programme will be initiated and held at the district superintendent’s office every week for 1 hour, people can participate in the programme and their grievances will be addressed. The phone in programme will be conducted by the superintendent of police or his subordinates”, said Dr Sanjeev Patil.

When asked about the problems of transgenders in the district he said that he will take a cognizance of the same. He also said that he will learn to speak Tulu since a large number of people speak Tulu in Udupi.

  1. When the overzealous party followers are blinded by the spirit, that they can do anything as they please to torture others through taking the law in their hands since their party is ruling from New Delhi; how to change their mindset to be decent law-abiding human beings?
