New Castle (Australia), Jan 17 (IANS) Abdulaziz Maqbali scored the lone goal to give Oman a 1-0 victory over Kuwait in the last round Group A match of the Asian Cup here Saturday.
After the boring first half, Maqbali broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, as Mohamed Ali Siyabi’s accurate pass found Maqbali who scored with a powerful header, reports Xinhua.
Both Kuwait and Oman lost their first two group games, making their encounter a dead rubber fought only for honour. Kuwait have netted just two goals in their last seven Asian Cup matches, while Oman have won one of their eight Asian Cup matches.
