On His ‘Final Countdown’ to Mayorship, Bhasker K briefs about Achievements worth Rs 23 Cr

Mangaluru: Less than 24 hours before he ends his tenure as Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation Bhasker K held a press meet at his chamber in MCC administration where he briefed the media for the last time as a Mayor about the successful developmental work worth Rs 22,97,50,368 during his one year term. Addressing the media persons Mayor Bhasker said, “Even though the opposition party is accusing us of lack of developmental work, I can firmly say that during the last five years of MCC under the leadership of Congress Party, we have done many projects from new drainage, new roads, state-of-the-art markets, new bus shelters, parks, etc worth crores of Rupees”.

“And after I took up the Mayor post a year ago, we have undertaken/planned developmental projects of Rs 22,97,50,368,00 (nearly 23 crores), where also special consideration was given to sports activities. During the last five years we have developed four parks costing nearly Rs 2 crore; drainage work worth Rs 179.50 crore, provided clean drinking water with new water pipelines, eight new markets were planned, of which nearly five have been completed, under Smart City developmental project, for MLCP start-up Rs 94 crore has been sanctioned, bus terminal planned under DPR at Rs 500 cr , Command Control Centre has been planned at a cost of Rs 38 cr; Under ABD areas nearly seven packages of Rs 300 cr each has been allotted to Smart Road projects” added Bhasker K.

He further said, “For the benefit of swimmers the MCC swimming pool was upgraded at a cost of Rs 1 cr; Undertaken preventive measures and plans to deal with floods during monsoons; in certain prominent areas in the City, the DBFOT (Design-Build, Fund and Operate & Transfer) system would be implemented, where MCC can earn good revenue from it- and for this projects LOA has been given to M/S Transeindia Infrastructure & Advisory Pvt Ltd. While I end my tenure in a very happy note having successfully completed various projects under my tenure as Mayor, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the District Administration, PWD, Mescom, other utility companies, and special thanks to the journos, both in print and electronic for their support and wide coverage on the activities and work of MCC”.

Former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, Deputy Mayor Mohammed Kunjathbail, Corporators Praveenchandra Alva, Naveen D’souza, Ms Pratibha Kulai and D K Ashok were present during the press meet.
