Addressing the mediapersons Charan Suvarna said, “Parivarthan Charitable trust, a Ray of Hope for transgenders, was initiated in 2016, and since its inception has been working for the welfare of the Transgenders. Parivarthan Trust also celebrated the World’s First “Transgenders Day” on March 12 commemorating the birthday of Ms Violet Pereira, the Founder of the Trust, and the tradition in celebrating ‘Transgenders Day’ has been continued for the past three years. In 2017, The Trust also hosted the FIRST ever Christmas Celebration with the Transgenders, thereby bringing the joy and fun during Christmas time among the Transgenders, and putting miles of smiles on their faces”.

Addressing the mediapersons Actress and Director of Fashion ABCD Sonal Monteiro said, “We came in contact with Violet Pereira last year during the first-ever state-level beauty pageant for transgenders held at the Town Hall. We the Fashion ABCD was associated with the pageant. We would like to thank Violet Pereira for giving us the opportunity to know more about transgenders. After the pageant in Mangaluru, I get calls from the transgenders seeking jobs in the film industry. They too have the desire to come to the mainstream as we have. We have to appreciate the efforts by Violet Pereira in molding the transgenders and introducing them to all us through her trust. Last years Parivarthan Transqueen Pageant was a successful one and this year we are moving forward and hosting the National-level beauty pageant for transgenders and it will continue.”

Speaking to the mediapersons Violet Pereira said, “Today, India is home to a vibrant transgender community that covers a wide spectrum of people. Parivarthan Trust has been striving hard for the rights of the transgenders and has been sensitizing the students by holding various programmes. To give equal opportunities for transgenders in the society the Trust is hosting this “Beauty Pageant” for them because they too are humans and have the same desires and interests like us”.

Violet also briefed on the present developments throught Parivarthan for the transgenders and said, “I have submitted a memorandum to the Minister for Women and Child Development Jayamala to provide housing for the transgenders and it has been sanctioned by the government. Even in 2017, we had requested the then MLA J R Lobo to form a committee to provide ID cards to the transgenders because they were not given their gender certificates. So the government has ordered to form a 17 member committee to provide ID cards for transgenders and based on the ID card all government facilities will be provided to the beneficiaries.”

Violet also said, “The audition for the National-level beauty pageant will be held in four places. The first audition will be held in Mangaluru on 29 September 2019, followed by Bengaluru on 13 October; Mumbai on 20 October; and Delhi on 3 November, and the Grand Finale on 24 November in Mumbai.
