Police arrest four more persons in Pudu GP Member Murder Attempt Case

Udupi: The district police have arrested four more persons on Saturday, June 29 in connection with the brutal assault on Mohammed Riyaz, a member of Pudu Gram Panchayat, at the Malpe fishing harbour.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Ashiq Kochi(22) a resident of Valachil, Toushir Patthonji(25) from Marnemikatte, Mohammed Thousif (25) from Adyar Katte and Mohammed Mushtaq (23).

On June 10 Police had arrested five of the accused, Ismail his brothers Mohammed Gouse and Mohammed Kaiser, Munir and Ahmed. Now after arresting four more persons, the police have traced all 9 accused in the case.

Ismail from Farangipete was the prime accused who had conspired to murder Riyaz.

The Police have seized a truck, Car and 3 machetes from the accused.

Riyaz (34), a resident of Farangipet in Mangaluru, was a fish merchant and a member of the Pudu Gram Panchayat.

Riyaz is said to be a regular visitor to Malpe harbour to purchase fish. Riyaz was attacked with swords during the wee hours of June 7. As the gang members were wearing masks, their identity could not be ascertained. After the incident, the culprits fled from the spot. Riyaz, who sustained severe injuries on his hands and neck is being treated at the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal.
