Policewoman got lover’s hand chopped to rein him in

The police team probing the case found, while interrogating the two men they arrested on September 14, that Jayalakshmi, a 27-year-old traffic police officer attached to the VV Puram traffic police station, had actually set up the crime to ensure that her lover would not marry other women.

The two arrested Viji alias Mental (22) and his associate Anandha (19) also confessed to the police that Jayalakshmi promised Rs 1.5 lakh for her lover Veeresh’s maiming and paid Rs 15,000 advance to Ananda’s father Kumar, a well-known rowdy in Shambupalaya in the VV Puram area.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh S K told DH that Jayalakshmi even organised a rehearsal of the crime a week before it happened when she took Veeresh (23)to Suvarnamukhi Temple and allowed time for Kumar, Viji and Ananda to fine-tune their attack of Veeresh.
